Texas officials advise residents to prepare for a total solar eclipse bringing an influx of tourists, urging readiness for potential traffic and slow-moving conditions.
Texan Residents
Details on the potential impacts of the influx of tourists and visitors on local infrastructure.

Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Beau again.
So today we are going to talk about the advice
that is being provided by some officials in Texas
to residents in Texas.
And it's basically advice telling them to get ready
and to be prepared for what's coming.
They're saying that they can expect schools to close.
They're telling residents to stock up on food, gas,
essentials, prescriptions, and to be ready for emergency declarations.
Sounds like what you gotta do for a hurricane.
What's happening?
A total solar eclipse.
A total solar eclipse is occurring on April 8th and officials in Texas are concerned that
amount of tourists and visitors coming to the area will overwhelm their
infrastructure. These counties they sit near the the path of totality where the
moon will entirely block out the Sun and the expectation is across the entire
path that millions of Americans are going to try to travel and go see it.
This has certain counties in Texas concerned. They're worried about the
influx of people overwhelming the infrastructure for traffic, the
hospitals, all of that stuff. Travis County has a population of 1.3 million
normally. They expect it to double to 2.6 million. The infrastructure is not built
for that kind of influx. Bell County has normally 400,000 they are also expecting
it to double. So this is something that Texas officials in particular seem to be
more concerned about than other places along the path but maybe they are being
proactive. I mean keep in mind Texas infrastructure doesn't actually have the
greatest reputation so they're trying to be proactive. The path that kind of
starts on the southern side for the US and cuts through central Texas and moves
up, that path of totality everywhere along it you can expect an influx of
tourists, of visitors, people coming to watch this event. I would expect that
anywhere. I don't know that the influx is going to be so severe that you need to
prepare for, you know, the town shutting down, but the advice that they're
providing, as far as having essentials and prescriptions and all of that
stuff. I mean that's good advice anyway. So it's just something to keep in mind
if you live along that path on April 8th. Be ready for traffic, be ready for things
to move slowly, and just be aware of what's going on and the fact that
there's going to be a whole bunch of people coming into town. The next time
one of these in the US I want to say is 2044 but if you're planning on catching
that I would fact-check that because I'm not sure I'm right now that I've said it.
Anyway, it's just a thought, y'all have a good day.
