Beau says:
Pence's assertion of Trump's disloyalty to the Constitution sparks controversial debates within Republican circles, challenging core beliefs and potentially influencing anti-Trump sentiments.

Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Beau again.
So today we are going to talk a little bit more about former vice president Pence
and some of the things that he said, because over the weekend, Pence continued
to talk about why he didn't feel he could endorse former president Trump in 2024.
And at one point he said something that I feel like is going to start a whole
bunch of conversation within Republican circles, because it's a very open statement and it's
not exactly new, but bringing it up now is definitely provoking.
Pence said, the issue of fealty to the Constitution is not a small matter, but it's not just that.
I mean, the reason I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump this year also has to
to do with the fact that he is walking away,
not just from keeping faith with the Constitution
on that day, but also, Margaret,
with a commitment to fiscal responsibility,
a commitment to the sanctity of life,
and a commitment to American leadership in the world.
Pence just said that Trump wasn't loyal to the Constitution.
Now, in context, maybe it's just talking about that day.
Maybe.
It's not the way I heard it, but some people might make that argument.
Either way, the suggestion coming from another Republican is unique and it's likely to elicit
a response from Trump.
base, a lot of them view loyalty to the Constitution as paramount. They view that
as part of their base identity. Now, whether or not you or I believe that
they actually demonstrate that is something else, but they view it that way.
It's a closely held belief. Now, if somebody is saying that Trump is not
loyal to the Constitution and you are loyal to Trump, what does that say about you?
I don't know that Pence meant to start the conversation that I believe is about to begin,
but this doesn't seem to be something that other Republicans, particularly those in office,
are going to be able to ignore.
seems like it's going to be a conversation and something that will
inevitably, inevitably cause Trump to talk about Pence. And it is unclear how
this conversation might impact his base. Now a whole lot of them, it's not going
to matter. They're going to blow Pence off as a rhino, so on and so forth. But
But to those people who voted for Haley, for those people who are quote never Trump Republicans,
this is just providing one more reason to hold that opinion.
And it seems like something that probably isn't going to be ignored.
It's not going to be written off as just a comment made on a show.
probably going to be discussion about it. And we'll have to wait and see how it
plays out, but I would not be surprised if that comment becomes center to
a lot of conversation next week in Republican circles and maybe even beyond
that. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
