Well, howdy there internet people, it's Beau again.
So today we are going to talk about Louisiana
and three elections for one race,
one of which looked like it was won by a single vote.
And we'll go through the final resolution.
This has been a long running story here on the channel
and it looks like it's finally been resolved.
So we'll run through what has occurred
and it deals with Caddo Parish in Louisiana.
Them trying to get a sheriff.
Okay, back in October, there was an election,
but nobody got a majority, therefore went to a runoff in November.
During the November race, Henry Whitehorn looked like he won
by a single vote, by one vote.
It went to court, there were a lot of disputes, that was thrown out.
The race was, the election was ran again.
This time he won by a little bit of a wider margin, looks like a little more than 4,000
votes, captured 53% of the vote.
That election occurred on Saturday.
Turnout was substantially higher than the previous one.
In the first one, or I should say in the November one, it was 43,000 and this time it looks
like a little more than 65,000.
So substantial increase in the turnout.
So the decision may have finally been made.
Whitehorns opponent did politely concede this time.
doesn't look like there's going to be any future court battles or anything like
that, and theoretically he'll be sworn in as the first black sheriff in the
parish on July 1st. This is one of those things where so much happened during the
election, during the attempt to get somebody into this office at the local
level, that there's a hundred different lessons in it from, you know, a single
vote victory to the increased turnout and how that might have been impacted by
the perception that people weren't accepting of the results of the
election to the the networking that had to take place to bring about the final
result to the fact that I mean it's Cato Parrish now with a black sheriff which
is historically if you go back and look at its history that in and of itself is
story. So that's what occurred. It looks like this story will finally come to a
close. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
