Well, howdy there, internet people, let's bow again.
So today we are going to talk about the last 10 months
and the last 12 months as well.
Let's just start with March.
March was the hottest March on record.
That statement is true for the last 10 months.
For the last year, we have been over the 1.5 degrees
over pre-industrial levels.
that was the Paris agreement, like stretch target, I guess.
So the question is whether or not
that is a trend that can be expected to continue, right?
Because there are really two theories on this.
You have warming air temperatures, warming ocean
temperatures, and it could be a sign of accelerated warming.
If the trend continues, it's definitely, I believe, one of
the scientists refer to it as uncharted territory.
It could be a sign of accelerated warming, which
means everything that you've heard about would occur
faster.
The hope is that that's not what it is. The hope is that this trend will kind of stabilize
and we'll see changes in August. If that's the case, as some expect, then this is the result of El Nino.
El Nino. If it's not, there's a lot that has to be done very, very, very quickly.
So while people in Congress push forward bills aimed at making appliances not energy-efficient,
The reality is we have to become much more aware of this and much more active when it
comes to this.
Climate change is real, it's a real thing.
These are surprising numbers.
All of the experts on this are basically kind of confused by what has occurred this year.
And the two theories, again, it's accelerated warming, which means everything that you've
heard about will come at a faster pace, or it's an anomaly, and it will start to resolve
itself around August.
And honestly, from looking at the people talking about it, I can't tell.
I can't tell what they think it is.
They may not know.
It's one of those things where maybe it is so outside the norm of what was predicted
that they don't have a firm grasp on it.
But I can't tell if the August El Nino connection is just wishful thinking
or if it's the other way.
If that's what they believe it is, but they're concerned it could be the other thing,
it could be accelerated warming. This is obviously something that we are going to
continue to follow and it should be big news. This got coverage, it did, but I feel
like it probably should have got more. We'll definitely provide updates on
what's happening each month and then review all of this come August if there
is a change or if there's not. Either way in August we'll be talking about this.
When you hear politicians talking about climate resiliency, talking about all of the different
things that have to be done to cut emissions, it's not an option.
They're going to stop one way or another.
It's really a question of whether or not we're going to be here.
