Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Beau again.
So today we are going to talk about some news
out of Montana that is not going to be well received
by a lot of Republicans in the Senate,
particularly the Republican leadership,
because they had their plan.
They knew how they were going to approach 2024
and how they thought they could get the majority back.
And they've put some work into it.
And the general idea was to be very specific in the races
that they put a lot into.
One of the ones that they selected as one that they
thought they could win, well, they thought they could take
tester's seat in Montana.
They've gotten two pieces of bad news in
last day or so, one is that Tester is far out raising the Republican candidate.
I want to say it's 8 million to like 2.2 million or something like that.
That's a bad sign to begin with.
But now there's something else.
A group in Montana is trying to get the signatures to get a ballot initiative together.
And it would be for November.
It would create a constitutional amendment to, quote, expressly provide a right to make
and carry out decisions about one's own pregnancy, including the right to abortion.
And then it goes on and it basically anything before fetal viability.
The government just can't say anything about.
It also has a part that says that the government can't deny or burden access if the doc thinks
that it would adversely impact the health of the mother.
This being on the ballot would probably drive turnout for people who support Tester.
This is not looking good for the Republican Party, to be honest.
If this is successful, if this gets on the ballot, they're going to have a harder time
than they thought.
This was one that they thought they could win.
This was one that they were devoting resources to.
This initiative might put all of their planning in jeopardy.
The group collecting signatures needs 60,000 by June 21st.
I feel like they're going to get it.
And if that occurs, and assuming that there aren't a bunch of legal challenges that stop
it from getting on the ballot, it's going to give Tester an edge.
