Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Beau again.
So today, we are going to talk about plans and peers
and progress and possibilities and projections
and kind of go through the information that is coming out
and put it into context and also kind of,
I mean, for lack of a better word,
translate some of it because I would imagine very soon if it's not already
out you will start hearing rumors or maybe you'll even see reporting that
says something to the effect of as soon as this weekend the the pier the United
States is building off the coast of Gaza will be operational. That is a true
enough statement. That is a true enough statement. However, it probably doesn't
mean what most people will think that that means. If you hear something is
operational and its whole goal is to get food and aid into Gaza, you would assume
that food and aid was going into Gaza. That's not what that sentence actually
actually means when it comes to diplomatic, government speak, anything like that.
As soon as this weekend, if absolutely nothing goes wrong on a project where, let's be honest,
quite a few things have gone wrong, it will be operational by this weekend.
But that's the pier, just the pier, not everything else.
If the pier does get operational this weekend and everything continues to move perfectly,
you might have food going into Gaza middle of next week.
And that's assuming that everything between now and the middle of next week runs perfectly.
Any delay that you hear about from bad weather to a ship having a mechanical issue, anything
like that will delay it.
is being made after a number of delays, but when that reporting inevitably comes out just
to manage expectations, it may not mean exactly what you think it means.
In related news, it appears that at least one gate that provides access to up north,
northern part of Gaza opened for the first time since the seventh. That's all I have though.
It opened and some aid went through. How much? No clue. Will it be open again?
No clue. Don't have any other information beyond that at this point.
I would imagine there will be more clarification about that soon. Now as far as the
peer, it's unlikely that they're actually going to say it will start
operating on this day. They're probably not going to release dates that are
firm because of operational security concerns. So, two different developments
to watch where you can see movement but you don't know how much and it's the
best to manage expectations. So if that reporting shows up and I'm sure it will
just it being operational this weekend does not mean that people will be eating
this weekend. That's not... it means that food could start being offloaded
onto the pier, but it still has to get to shore. Anyway, it's just a thought.
