Well howdy there internet people. It's Beau again. So today we're going to talk about Trump
failing a political test. He lost the election. I'm not talking about the 2020 election.
I'm talking about one in Texas, the 6th congressional district there.
For those people who believe that Trump's influence over voters is overhyped, myself
included, there were a lot of us watching this election because it was really unique. It was a
bizarre set of circumstances. There was a runoff for this special election. It resulted in two
Republican candidates being in the general. The general election had two Republican candidates
who were pretty much identical when it came to policy. They're carbon copies. One raised more
money. The other had the most valuable thing in the world of the GOP, a Trump endorsement.
Trump made a hundred thousand dollar ad buy for. The one without Trump's endorsement won.
This little development, it shouldn't be overlooked. Right now people in the Republican Party
are groveling, trying to kiss Trump's ring to get that endorsement. It may turn out to be a poisoned
ring. It does seem at the moment that you can't win a Republican primary without Trump's endorsement,
but you can't win a general if you have it. The staying power of the former president
is definitely in question. Trump's endorsement did not swing an election in Texas. In Texas.
The Republican Party needs to take note of this as they continue to travel down the road
that Trump has paved for them with good intentions. This should be a wake-up call
to everybody in the Republican Party and to those people who are conservatives.
The moment of Trumpism is fading. It is passing. It was a losing proposition.
Trump's political fortunes when it comes to elections, they really haven't been that good.
And now in Texas, two Republicans, one with Trump's endorsement, one without, pretty much
the same on policy. The one without is the one that claimed a victory. That can't be overlooked.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
