Well, howdy there, Internet people.
It's Beau again.
So today we're going to provide a little update on Ukraine,
and we're going to talk about the race that's going on.
The lines have been relatively static.
They haven't been moving a whole lot in any direction.
The exception to that is around Kharkiv,
depending on your preferred pronunciation there.
Ukrainian forces mounted a counteroffensive
that looks like it got 35, 40 kilometers, which isn't huge,
but it's significant.
It is significant enough that I would imagine soon you
will start hearing people say, well, Ukraine
can encircle the Russian troops at Izium.
I mean, yeah, sure.
With the current situation there,
encirclement maneuvers are difficult.
That doesn't change just because now it's
Ukraine that might be attempting it.
You know, it would be hard for Russia to do it.
It's going to be hard for Ukraine to do it.
I don't see that as the likely next development from this.
So that's the big news.
Right now, there's not a lot of movement occurring.
There's fighting, but not movement.
Now, what is going on is a race.
It's a race.
It's a race between Russia attempting
to mobilize and send in some reserves
in large enough numbers to overcome their lack of training,
fix their logistical issues, get stuff up and running,
and between what amounts to a Red Ball Express for Ukraine,
getting supplies from Western countries that are assisting
to where they need to be.
The Red Ball Express existed during World War II.
It was just a network of trucks.
It was a logistical network that was thrown together
very, very quickly.
And it doesn't get a lot of press because, I mean,
not to put too fine a point on it,
it doesn't get a lot of press because the troops that
ran it were black.
I mean, they were the ones responsible for it.
It's also not as dramatic.
But make no mistake about it, a lot of the famous battles
that the Allies won during World War II
would have been lost had this thing not existed,
had this network not existed.
The same thing is occurring right now.
It's different.
It's more clandestine in nature.
But make no mistake about it, there
are people out there trying to get the supplies there
and making sure they don't run into roadblocks.
That's what's going on.
And that's the race.
Now, if Ukraine can get the more sophisticated stuff
to the front before Russia can sort out its problems,
that's going to be huge.
And that's probably going to be the next big development
there.
That's probably going to be the thing that really tips
the scales one way or another.
And we're just going to have to wait and see how that plays
out and see what the next front will be.
Because once somebody wins that race,
there will start to be movement.
And when that movement starts, it's
probably going to shape the rest of the war.
Anyway, it's just a thought.
Y'all have a good day.
