Well, howdy there, internet people.
It's Beau again.
So today we are going to talk about the news coming out of
Georgia, dealing with Trump and that case there, and media
companies, and what has been decided as far as the release
of the information generated during that investigation,
and what it means.
OK.
So if you have no idea what I'm talking about, the special grand jury that was convened in
Georgia to look into what happened during and after the 2020 election, that special
grand jury, it ended a while ago.
It issued a report that went to the district attorney, a whole bunch of media companies
are like, we want that report.
And they took it to court.
The judge has at least partially sided with the media companies.
The judge has decided that the introduction, the conclusion, and section eight, which is
a section, I think it's section eight.
There is a section that will be released that discusses how the special grand jury felt
in relation to the possibility of some of the people who testified before them having
lied to them. Now the district attorney was very opposed to this saying that you
know I'm one of the only people that have read this report and it would be
inappropriate to release it at this time charging decisions are imminent so on and
so forth. The judge felt otherwise saying while a publication may not be
convenient for the pacing of the district attorney's investigation the
compelling public interest in these proceedings and the unquestionable value
and importance of transparency require their release." So it looks like on
Thursday those sections of that report from the special grand jury will be
released and there's a lot of speculation about what's going to be in it and
whether or not people will be able to draw any conclusions. I would be leery
of drawing conclusions as far as charging decisions from the report. Now, it is
worth noting that the judge said that the special grand jury, quote, provided
the district attorney with exactly what she requested, a roster of who should or
should not be indicted. And for what? In relation to the conduct and aftermath of
the 2020 general election in Georgia. So that was provided by the special grand
jury. Is that going to be part of what is released? We'll find out on Thursday. But
it's pretty likely that the conclusion, which is slated to be released, will
provide a lot of hints, even if it doesn't contain the
list of people who should or should not be indicted. The section about those
people who may have been less than accurate in front of the grand jury. That
should also provide a lot of hints. So come Thursday we will get a glimpse of
the future and you'll be able to speculate but I don't think you should
draw any conclusions yet because they are recommendations from the special grand
jury to the district attorney who then needs to seek an indictment. And there
may be people who get listed who aren't going to be indicted. There may be people
who aren't listed or are recommended who end up indicted. It isn't cut and dry. And
keep in mind you're only getting portions of the report but all of that
is supposed to come out Thursday this this case is I mean it's at the stage
where the next phase of it is indictments and and seeing how things
things will proceed from there.
A lot of these investigations are taking a long time.
This one in particular, it's at the end stage.
The district attorney, once this is released, if what it appears is actually in this report,
The district attorney is going to face a lot of pressure to act very quickly, one way or
the other.
You can expect the Georgia case dealing with the election, the 2020 election, to speed
up dramatically come Thursday.
Anyway, it's just a thought.
Y'all have a good day.
