Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bo again.
So today we are going to talk about Vice President Pence
and his little chat with the federal authorities.
We're going to talk about the speed
at which that chat occurred.
We're gonna talk about why Pence might be doing it
and what it may mean for the Republican Party as a whole,
because this might be the beginning of a shift
the way that they deal with Trump. Okay, so if you have no idea what I'm talking
about, quick recap. The federal grand jury looking into January 6th, Pence was
supposed to talk to him. Pence put up a basic appeal, you know, little stuff, and
And Trump put in his own appeal
to try to get emergency relief.
That appeal was not upheld on Wednesday.
Thursday, Pence is talking to the grand jury.
And according to reporting,
he spoke to them for five hours or so.
So what does this mean for the investigation?
You don't bring a former vice president in
talk to a federal grand jury unless you plan on indicting. Plain and simple. The
investigators are pursuing an indictment. I know there's a lot of people that talk
about that because of the admittedly very slow pace that the prosecution is
moving with. But you're not going to bring in a former vice president to talk
unless you plan on indicting. Generally speaking, if you don't have anything to
say, you don't end up talking to the grand jury for five hours. So we can
safely assume that this was something that moved the investigation along. This
This would be the first time that Pence would be talking under oath about conversations
he had directly with Trump.
Okay, so what's this mean for Pence?
We've talked about it before.
Pence wants to be president and right now Trump's in his way.
The smart political move for Pence was to put up the little baby fight and then, well,
Go in there and tell what happened, put up the little baby fight to signal to that MAGA
base that, well, I tried.
But deep down, Pence needs Trump gone if he wants to make a run for the White House.
When it comes to the Republican party as a whole, they have a Trump problem as well.
They need him gone.
They need Trump to be out of the primary.
They get the same polling we talk about on this channel.
They know the MAGA brand is 20 points underwater.
He can't win a general.
But they can't just push him out because they spent so much time catering to him that they
can't force him out because it'll anger the MAGA base.
And while the MAGA base can't win on its own, the Republican Party can't win without the MAGA base.
So they have to find a way for Trump to go away, but it not be their fault.
I mean, this seems like an option.
I think we're going to see a lot of Republican figures be less supportive of Trump.
They may not like throw him under the bus, but I don't think they're going to
extend as much support to him in hopes that he goes away and it clears the path
for a different candidate. Pence probably has a better chance of winning the
general than Trump does because for a lot of Americans, particularly those that
just getting headlines, Pence stood up to Trump. He stood up to any attempt that
occurred on the 6th. So he has a much better shot in the general than Trump
does. I still think a Pence nomination is kind of a long shot even with Trump out
of the way, but this is definitely helpful to his cause and it helps the
Republican Party as a whole. So that's what happened, that's how it probably
assisted the investigation, and this is why the Republican Party isn't suddenly
disowning Pence, which is something you would have expected a couple years ago,
right? There's a shift. It's occurring, it is moving very, very slowly, but it's
happening and it's a shift away from Trump and there's also the whole thing
with a Republican donors being let's just say aloof right now that may have
something to do with the Republican Party's sudden change of heart when it
comes to the former president.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
