Well, howdy there internet people, let's vote again.
So today we are going to talk about Senator Feinstein,
her return to DC, and what it means for the future.
Reporting suggests Senator Feinstein from California
will be back in DC this week.
One last crusade, she won't be seeking re-election though.
Okay, so what does this mean?
She's coming back, she's gonna be voting.
means that the Democratic Party has a functional majority again on the Senate
Judiciary Committee. That's a big deal. The confirmations have been slowed. I
know Feinstein's office has said they weren't, but it certainly appears that
they have been slowed. But that's not the big thing. The judicial confirmations
they're important but there are more pressing matters. The reason the Senate
Judiciary Committee really couldn't do anything in regards to the Supreme Court
and what was going on is because they didn't have the votes. They did not have
the votes. Republicans had enough votes with her absent to kind of keep
everything in gridlock with her back as long as the Democratic Party sticks to
together on that committee, they can issue subpoenas, they can do things. So
that means that the whole Clarence Thomas, you know, the Chief Justice, saying
I respectfully decline your invitation to talk, stuff like that, that may not cut
it. The Democratic Party, particularly those on the Judiciary Committee, they've
had a lot of pretty tough talk and it was easy to have that tough talk when
they didn't have to back it up. Now, with her back, let's see if they act on it.
They might. This is an issue that can really help the Democratic Party come
2024. This is something that will motivate people because they can point
to these justices and if they lay out the groundwork to say hey look they did
all of this stuff wrong and by the way they're responsible for all those
rulings you don't like it might motivate people to show up because right now it
is what's the word I'm looking for impossible for the Democratic Party to
remove them if they so chose. They would need a big majority and they don't have
it. It might be a motivating factor. Either way, with the way the Republican
Party is becoming more and more scandal-ridden, it's something that they
can use if they actually act on their rhetoric. The thing is they have to make a
choice. They have to decide whether or not all of the talk, since all of these
reports started coming out, if that talk was real or if it was just for the
cameras. Let's hope they don't choose poorly. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all
Have a good day.
