Beau says:
Recent events in Texas have brought forth the realistic possibility of impeaching the Attorney General, Paxton, following a Republican-led investigation uncovering numerous serious allegations against him.
Texan voters
Details on the potential consequences of Paxton's impeachment and the broader implications for Texas politics.

Well, howdy there, internet people, let's bow again.
So today we are going to talk about Texas
and the Attorney General there, Paxton,
and the possibility of impeachment
because that is now a realistic possibility
due to some recent events.
While most eyes have been turned elsewhere
in the state of Texas, there has been a lot of drama
playing out inside the Republican Party. A lot of it. A whole lot. So what has
occurred? A Republican-led investigation. That's important. It's a Republican-led
investigation that has been going on kind of quietly for about four months.
Has been looking into a whole bunch of allegations concerning Paxton. There
There was an airing of these allegations, and it's a list.
It's a list.
It took three hours for them to detail them, and it does include some felonies.
It's worth remembering Paxton is already under indictment from, I want to say like 2015,
over a securities fraud charge, I think, and is also being investigated by the FBI reportedly
for bribery allegations. Now that came from some whistleblowers, which is also
where this investigation came from in kind of a roundabout way because the
allegation is that Paxton retaliated against the whistleblowers, which led to
a 3.3 million dollar settlement, which led to this investigation. So what are
some of the allegations. Abuse of official capacity, misuse of public
information, misapplication of fiduciary property. Those are just the felonies.
There are other allegations, some quite scandalous, to include a sweetheart job
for his sweetheart. It's something else. This may actually be the thing that
finally catches the attention of voters in Texas.
Keep in mind, voters have kind of backed Paxton through a lot of scandals.
Now how did Paxton respond?
He basically called the Republican Speaker of the House a liberal and accused him of
a drunk. Yeah, I mean, so there's that too. I would point out that he is
definitely not a liberal. So what happens next? We really don't know.
Paxton has a lot of allies, but realistically they're kind of only
left with a few options. They can either completely ignore it, censure him,
or impeach him. When asked about what they planned to do, they didn't really
respond. They were just kind of like, well, we'll let you know when we do. I don't
think that the, I don't think the lawmakers expected the list of
of allegations to be quite so lengthy or detailed.
It put them in a pretty rough spot.
So I'm not sure what they plan on doing, but Paxton is a star in the GOP,
not just in Texas, but nationwide.
Keep in mind, he was one of the people who tried to help alter the outcome
of the 2020 election for Trump. He's kind of a big name. It would be surprising if
it was other Republicans who took him down, but given the public nature of the
allegations at this point and his response to the speaker, I don't think
is out of the realm of possibility.
Anyway, it's just a thought.
Y'all have a good day.
