Political analysts, Texas residents.
Insights into the potential implications of Paxton's impeachment on Texas politics.

Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bo again.
So today we are going to talk about Paxton, Paxton in Texas and why, why it happened.
If you don't know, the Attorney General of Texas has been impeached, removed from duty
temporarily, will be going to the Senate for the trial, all of that stuff.
It happened.
It is worth noting that during the impeachment process, a representative did say that calls
were made basically from the Paxton team to representatives saying, you better not do
that.
And they did it anyway.
What's more noticeable is that Trump and other figures, major figures within the Republican
party kind of put out a message saying hey don't do this don't impeach him and
they did it anyway which leads a whole lot of people to wonder why now I'm
going to be honest I don't really care but there's a lot of curiosity about
this one thing I want to point out is that from this point forward everything
speculation. In this video, from this point forward, everything is speculation.
We don't know anything. It's all guessing. I do understand the curiosity because I
also do not believe that the Republican Party in Texas suddenly got a case of
ethics that seems unlikely. A lot of these allegations, not all, but a lot of
them have been known about for a really long time. For them to suddenly care
seems weird. So you have to look for motive. You have to look for motivations
for Republicans to suddenly turn on a Republican attorney general. Now, there's
option one. It's always option one. It's the money. There's a lot of money changing
hands in these allegations. There's the 3.3 million that Paxton was apparently
hoping the state was going to eat, there's a lot there, and any of that could be the
deciding factor in a bunch of different ways.
Option two is that Paxton has proven himself up until now to be made a Teflon, so they
They ordered the investigation as a matter of course and just assumed that the investigators
wouldn't find anything.
And then once the report was made, they're like, oh no, it's in the public record, we've
seen it, we have to act.
And so they did.
It could be they overestimated his ability to cover his tracks.
might be that. And then there's the one that I think is the most likely. They
know something we don't. When people talk about stuff like this and they're trying
to come up with motive, oftentimes they assume that they have all of the
information. I'm going to assume that we don't because this is weird. The
Republican Party, particularly the Republican Party in Texas, is not known
for holding its own accountable. And to do it to such a high profile figure in a
way that certainly kind of seems out of the blue over the objections of high
profile people within the Republican Party, it's weird. So maybe they know
something we don't. What could that be? It could be that there are more
allegations that just haven't surfaced, and they're hoping to remove him before
those come to light. Maybe some of those allegations involve them. It could be
something that simple. It could be they know that one of the many investigations
or legal entanglements that Paxton found himself in is about to catch up with him.
and they don't want him in office when it happens. Or it could be something
entirely personal. I'm gonna assume that the motivation for this is not public
yet. The reason they acted isn't publicly known. I don't really think it's over the
3.3 million and unless they all had some kind of super corrupt deal where
everybody got a cut of the money I don't think it's the money changing hands in
the allegations. Maybe they maybe they overestimated his ability to cover his
tracks and they didn't like the position they found themselves in. It's possible
But I think the most likely answer is that they know something we don't. And
we'll find out later. But I understand why people are asking this. I understand
why people are curious. I get it. But at the end, what has occurred is a
a Republican-led committee and a Republican House have impeached a Republican Attorney General in Texas.
I mean, do you really care why they did it? I mean, at the end of this?
I mean, I understand from a curiosity aspect, but
I don't know that this is something I'm gonna go looking really hard into
because I don't want to find out that it is something personal. So what happens
now is more than likely there's going to be litigation. Paxton is going to try to
stop it before it goes to the Senate would be my assumption. Then it'll go to
the Senate for an actual trial. This is the point where a whole bunch of
evidence will start coming out and being made more public. More people will hear
about it. I think there's probably a hope among some Republicans in Texas that
Paxton resign. I don't think that's gonna happen. I think he's gonna fight, but
we'll have to wait and see. The one thing that I do find interesting is Trump
being very upset about how this is playing out. And it is worth remembering
that Paxton tried to help Trump with a lot of stuff after the election in 2020.
And I would imagine that Trump feels like he owes him. I would imagine that
Paxton feels like Trump owes him. And I'm kind of wondering how far that loyalty is
going to go. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
