Ukrainian military surprises with successful deployment of long-range missiles, impacting Russian defenses and necessitating enhanced protection measures.

Well, howdy there, internet people.
Let's build again.
So today we are going to talk about Ukraine,
and range, and age, and airfields, and what happened.
Okay, so for quite some time,
the Ukrainian military has been asking the United States
for access to specific variants of specific systems.
One of the things that was very sought after
was the ATA-CMS, longer range versions of it.
The Atacams favored pronunciation there,
and the US has said, OK, but it took their time
handing it over, or so everybody thought.
Up until yesterday, there were people complaining
that Ukraine did not have these.
So Ukraine used them.
They deployed them successfully against some airfields.
So this is basically a long-range missile.
Not a long-range missile, a longer-range missile.
Has a range of about 100 miles.
The variant they used was a cluster variant.
It was used against helicopters and some airfields.
The interesting part about the range change is that basically there is nowhere in occupied
Ukraine that the Ukrainians can't hit now.
no rear anymore. And that was a very unique way of announcing that they now
had that capability. In an interesting development, somebody on the Russian
side took a photo of the markings and a photo of some of the pieces and stuff
like that. And they put it online. My guess was they were trying to show that it was
American-made, which it's not like that was going to be in dispute, but whatever.
This was from 1996, and I don't mean it was designed in 1996, but it's a recent
production with 500 upgrades.
This particular missile was made in 1996.
Generally speaking, if you're looking for a propaganda win,
you don't want to say that the thing that just flew past all
of your defenses and hit your airfields
almost 30 years old. So my guess is that Russia is going to have to harden some
of the areas in the rear what was out of range and now they're gonna have to take
a lot more precautions in protecting that equipment and that person and those
personnel. That's going to be the big change. Draining resources like that, long-term it
helps with the front lines. But that was definitely a surprise development. I mean, I'm pretty
plugged into the rumor mills. I didn't know this stuff was there until it hit the ground.
Anyway, it's just a thought, y'all have a good day.
