The emotional connection and passion Beau has for wolf conservation may be best experienced by watching the full transcript.
Well, howdy there, Internet people.
Let's bow again.
So today, we are going to talk about Colorado and wolves
and an introduction, well, a reintroduction,
because there have been some developments after,
let's just say some challenges.
Things are underway and there are more developments to come.
So we're just gonna kind of run through them
and talk about where we're at.
Okay, so despite some, despite some legal challenges, gray wolves are being reintroduced
into Colorado.
It started with five and then shortly thereafter five more.
So right now there are four male and six female wolves, gray wolves, in Colorado.
By March, they hope to have that number up to 15.
Now anytime wolves are reintroduced because of the boy who cried wolf and the big bad
wolf and a lot of less than accurate imagery, there's a lot of opposition to it.
That was overcome and they're being reintroduced.
It is important to remember that wolves are, they are great for the environment.
beyond the whole reintroducing a species thing, they provide a lot of benefits and there's
like a cascade effect and it's positive for the environment where they're reintroduced.
There's documentaries about this.
I know there's at least two good ones on Yellowstone and them being reintroduced there.
Hopefully this is just the beginning and there will be more to come.
The effort to preserve wolves and keep that species moving, it's cyclical.
It gets ahead and then they stop before the finish line most times and then it starts
to fall behind and then it comes back and there's a lot to it.
The reintroduction here, it's a good move.
understanding I think the wolves came from Oregon. I think they gave them
permission to to catch them there and release them in Colorado. One thing to
remember is that sometimes wolves have to be reintroduced more than once. So
So just keep an eye on this.
It's good news and things are moving in the right direction, but there may come a time
when there's a need for more public support to keep the program going.
But if you're bored over the holidays, look into what happens when wolves are successfully
reintroduced into places. Understand there's a lot of fear-mongering but it
is important far beyond just the normal the normal people who are trying to
protect a species that's at risk. There are a lot of benefits downstream so it's
a win. Just be aware there may be a need for public support to get another win
probably sometime next year. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
