A Russian landing ship's destruction impacts Ukrainian morale and Russian naval power goals, leading to changes in fleet deployments.

Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again.
So today we are going to talk about Ukraine and Russia
and ships and what has happened now that things
have become a little bit more clear.
I know with yesterday's title about Christmas coming early,
a lot of people thought that that video was gonna be
talking about this, but wanted a wee bit more information
before we put it out there because at time of filming
then it was a little disputed. Okay, so what happened? A landing ship, this is a ship used
to transport troops, tanks, APCs, stuff like that. A Russian landing ship was struck by some guided
missiles fired from quote warplanes. The belief and judging by the footage I've
seen this tracks is that it was carrying ammo and drones at the time. Ukraine is
is saying that it was destroyed, quote, Russia is saying it was damaged.
I've looked at some of the footage.
Destroyed seems like a better fit.
I do not believe this is going to be back in action anytime soon.
maybe not completely destroyed, sunk.
But I don't foresee it carrying anything
for quite some time.
It's going to need a lot to bring it back up
to anything remotely usable.
This, obviously, is a big boost to Ukrainian morale.
Even though a lot of the famed Black Sea fleet
has been withdrawn from the area,
it's bottled up somewhere else.
Over the last four months, the Black Sea fleet
has lost about one out of five of its ships.
This coupled with a number of air victories for Ukraine, it's probably
boosting morale a lot and it's probably something they need because the ground
campaign is just... it is grinding on. So this is going to do two things really.
One, is boost Ukrainian morale, and two, it is going to make it harder to transport supplies
and equipment into Crimea for Russia.
It's going to make that more difficult.
It will probably cause even more apprehension about putting any major ships within striking
distance because from the Ukrainian perspective these seem to be relatively
easy targets that really damage Russia. Remember ships take a long long time to
repair or replace and Russian naval power was something that Putin was trying
to reassert, trying to bring it back up, and every ship that is damaged kind of
sets that goal a little bit back and it costs a lot of money. So I would expect
to hear more about this and I would expect this to lead to even more changes
when it comes to how the Russian fleet deploys and how long it sits in any one
location particularly if it's loaded with ammo. Anyway it's just a thought y'all
Have a good day.
