Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Beau again.
So today we are going to talk about New York,
New Jersey, Senator Menendez,
and the news that has kind of arisen,
and what we can kind of pull out of this.
And we'll just kind of remind everybody
about this situation before it likely becomes
a spectacle come May.
Okay, so if you don't remember
Senator Menendez
Got into a little bit of hot water with the feds by that. I mean charged
after
Allegations surfaced that he accepted things of value
like cash, gold bars
and
Performed services for
times were foreign nationals or people operating on behalf of foreign countries.
The federal government did not like this.
Okay, so it does not appear that the senator is getting any help from his friends to include
the one who is alleged to have tried to bribe him by buying him a Mercedes Benz.
That co-defendant is reportedly entering a guilty plea to seven counts, one of which
is a conspiracy count, and it does appear that that co-defendant will be cooperating
with federal officials.
This kind of throws a wrench into any potential defense.
Up until now, everybody involved in this had said, we didn't do this.
You're wrong.
Irreasonable explanations, that kind of thing.
It seemed that all of them intended on going to trial, and that would have occurred or
will occur May 6th, I believe.
So Menendez is a sitting senator.
So far, he has ignored calls to resign from the Democratic Party.
He is a Democrat, and it certainly appears that he plans on retaining his seat and going
to trial, which is a novel move.
That's not something that generally occurs.
This development may change things, but we don't really know how yet.
All indications are that Menendez plans on fighting this.
Now if maybe some of the other co-defendants also take deals, that might alter the math
a little bit, but from everything I've seen so far, Menendez is going to take this to
trial.
We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out, but if nothing changes and
Menendez pursues it in this manner, just know that come May there there's going to
be quite the spectacle when it comes to a trial. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all
Have a good day.
